Eine Welt Netz NRW

One World Network North Rhine – Westphalia, Germany

There are more than 2.800 local groups and small organisations committed to One World issues in the Federal State of North Rhine – Westphalia. They engage in topics such as social justice on a global scale, human rights, and worldwide solidarity. Our network fosters the commitment of these volunteers.

We support the local groups in various ways:

Our Network started in 1991, when several local One World Networks decided to co-operate more closely and created an umbrella association. Our first projects included nation-wide Mural-Painting-Projects with international artists visualizing topics of the Agenda 21.

Furthermore, we publish a diary of local One World events on our website, and keep a database comprehending more than 2.800 One World groups in North Rhine - Westphalia. These groups maintain partnerships with local development projects or schools in nearly every developing country. Our database helps to enhance exchange and co-operation between them.

We lobby for a sustainable development worldwide as well as in North Rhine - Westphalia. Hence, we promote a lifestyle wasting fewer resources. We campaign for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) having been declared by the United Nations in 2000. The MDG are still far from being accomplished until 2015, as has been promised by the politicians signing them. Thus, we enhance public pressure in order to foster the political will which is still lacking badly.
