although a life-saving treatment costs only 1 Euro. In Europe this is unthinkable. But elsewhere it is happening. Every day. 2000 times. The majority of malaria related deaths occur in Sub-Saharan Africa. Children under-five and pregnant women are particularly affected by the disease. But malaria can be treated and prevented with relatively simple and cost-effective measures.

A campaign puts pressure on politicians


STOP MALARIA NOW! is an initiative of ten health and development NGOs from Germany, Italy, Kenya, Spain, Switzerland, Poland and the United States. It is our goal to raise public and political awareness in Europe on the massive dimension as well as the economic and social consequences malaria has for affected countries. We ask politicians in Europe to prioritize malaria control in order to save a million lives every year.

New research report published: “Interrelation of Malaria Control Interventions and Community Health Systems Strengthening in Kenya”. By conducting interviews with more than 1,400 households as well as health personnel and NGO representatives, our partner organization KeNAAM assessed the respondents’ views on key issues in the fight against malaria and recorded key responses on the implementation of malaria control interventions and their interrelation with health system strengthening initiatives. "Insight Malaria" film project


Why does malaria hit Africa hardest? Which cultural beliefs are existing about the disease? 13 young film-makers from Europe and Africa are looking for answers in Kenya. They visit health centers, listen to stories from village elders and try potions from traditional healers. Watch the full „INSIGHT MALARIA documentary“.

A lot of progress has been made. 11 African countries could reduce malaria-related deaths by 50%. The formula for success: Political will and sufficient financial resources.
