Gladys lives in a small hut in Kalimapoa village which has just one sleeping room and a kitchen for five family members. In July 2010 Gladys gave birth to twins called Abraham and Jacob.
In the nearby dispensary where she went for antenatal care, Gladys did not get the mosquito nets usually provided by the government for pregnant women. The clinic was out of stock. Since Gladys lost an unborn baby due to a malaria infection some years back she definitely wanted to have a mosquito net to protect the babies from malaria. She had to spend about 5 Euro for that a lot of money for a family living on less than 1 Euro a day.
