Federation of Medicus Mundi Spain (FAMME)
Federation of Medicus Mundi Spain (FAMME) it's an NGO that works in the field of health cooperation since 1963. Sixteen territorial associations comprising FAMME, which add up to 7.500 partners, 615 volunteers and 70 professionals in Spain and 40 abroad. Its work was recognized with the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord in 1991. It is a professional and independent organization of any political, economic or religious group.
Its work areas are developed both in the most disadvantaged countries through health projects, focused mainly in Primary Health Care and different areas of the management of the heath institutions. In 2006, this organization has worked in 192 projects of cooperation in 29 countries of America, Africa and Asia, and has spent in these projects about 21.8 million Euros (87.4% of its total budget for 2006). In Spain, working areas are mainly: education for development, public awareness, investigation, and training of professionals and activities of lobby.
